Choose the perfect bike!

Choosing the right bike for your child is an exciting and important decision. To ensure that your little one has a comfortable and safe riding experience, it's crucial to find a bike that fits them properly. One of the most critical measurements to consider is your child's inside leg length or inseam. In this guide, we'll walk you through the steps to accurately measure your child's inside leg length and help you make the perfect choice when shopping for a kids' bike.

How To Measure Your Child

  1. Have the child stand against a wall with their shoes on.
  2. Gently position a book between their legs, ensuring it's at a comfortable height.
  3. Measure from the top of the book to the floor.
How to Measure Your Child's Inside Leg Length:

  1. Gather the Essentials:
    • A flat, hard surface
    • A straight-edged object (like a book)
    • A measuring tape or a ruler
    • A helping hand (if possible)
  2. Dress Your Child: Ensure your child is wearing the type of shoes they'll typically wear when riding the bike. This is important because shoe height can affect the measurement.
  3.  Find a Hard, Flat Surface: Have your child stand against a wall on a hard, flat surface with their back straight.
  4.  Position the Book: Place the straight-edged object (e.g., a book) between your child's legs. Make sure it's snug against their crotch.
  5.  Measure from Crotch to Floor: With your child standing straight and feet flat on the ground, measure from the top edge of the book (or the straight-edged object) to the floor. This measurement is your child's inside leg length.
  6. Record the Measurement: Write down the measurement in centimeters or inches. This is the inseam length you'll use when selecting a bike.
The inside leg length, also known as the inseam, is the measurement from the crotch to the floor. When it comes to selecting a bike for your child, it's essential because:

  1. Safety: A bike that's the right size ensures that your child can touch the ground with their feet when seated, allowing for better stability and control.
  2.  Comfort: Proper sizing prevents discomfort and strain, ensuring a more enjoyable and longer-lasting biking experience.
  3.  Confidence: When a child can easily touch the ground, they'll feel more confident and secure while riding, which is crucial for their safety and enjoyment.
